Refreshing a homegrown, richly human brand with a simple, one-page website and personable storytelling.

Pottery-making is an intensive, multi-phase process that requires careful precision in every step. We wanted the brand story to invite website visitors into the transformative process, so they could see firsthand the intentionality baked into every piece.
One of the most fun elements of this artistic site is the Art & Science section that showcases Julia’s 7-step pottery process. In it, we introduce a friendly, conversational tone that perfectly balances the heartful headlines.

Julia brought her own logo, font, and brand colors. That gave us the opportunity to pair her visual foundation with a fresh image direction and graphic elements.
In design, we pulled inspiration from the earth-sourced, hand-formed nature of clayworks. Throughout the site, we highlighted custom photography with hand-drawn elements and photo cut-outs to carry the handmade theme throughout.
Today, Raines Clayworks has a responsive, story-centered website that invites visitors to sit at the wheel and experience the intentionality of artisan-thrown pottery for themselves. Each section activates the reader’s sense of touch, smell, and taste—and inspires them to visit the next show or maker’s mart to shop their favorite pieces.
